This is why many artists, even professionals, tend to shy away from using backgrounds containing cars, planes and motorcycles.
When studying the art of comic storytelling, I would rank drawing believable vehicles as a high priority. Where drawing convincing cities and beautiful landscapes can be broken down into simple cubes and triangles, vehicles however (especially modern or science fiction ones), can be much harder to deconstruct because of their complex forms.
